Allowing immigrants to enjoy the American Dream has been a controversial topic for quite some time. Many people argue that immigrants should not be able to enjoy the American Dream simply because they are not American. Others argue that anyone should be allowed to enjoy the American Dream because everyone deserves a chance at success. Immigrants should be allowed to enjoy the American Dream because American is a free country, immigrants can’t help what situation they were born into, and immigrants positively contribute to the American business community. The United States of America is a free country where anyone can come and try to start a new life. People from all walks of life can come to America if they feel like they might find better†¦show more content†¦Some Americans feel like people who were not born in the United States, should not get to immigrate here and become an American. What many Americans do not know is how beneficially immigrants actually are to the United States. Just because someone was not born in America, that does not mean they should not get to enjoy the American Dream. People cannot help what situation they were born into. A historian writing about the American Dream said, â€Å"America is a dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for every man, with opportunity for each according to his ability or achievement. It is a difficult dream for the European upper classes to interpret adequately, and too many of us ourselves have grown weary and mistrustful of it.† No matter where you are born, you deserve a chance to go somewhere where you can have a better, more successful life. Many immigrants have come to the United States from a poor country and have become very successful since then. A perfect example of this is Robert Herjavec. Robert was an immigrant who was born in Zbjeg, Croatia. Robert first moved to Toronto after he escaped from his communist country with his mother and father. They escaped with only one suitcase of luggage. They ended up living with a friend in Toronto for 18 months.
